It all began in a little red brick house on N.16th Street in north Boise in 1994, overflowing with rare and unusual handmade items from around the globe. The ‘buzz’ about this fun new retail import store took off quickly, and after 2 years we made a move to 8th & Fort Street in the Fort Street Shopping Center, expanding into a much larger space in order to meet the demands and desires of our enthusiastic customers and friends! Adjacent to the Boise Co-op, we thrived in the Fort Street location for 11 years, as an international marketplace tucked away in Boise’s Northend. In 2007 we moved to our current location at 16th & Grove – in the “Big Red Building.” We are locally owned and operated.
A longtime local favorite, we are an eclectic ethnic shop, with an atmosphere and experience like no other! Residing here in our expanded Grove Street location since August 2007, we are a vast emporium of incredible treasures, collectibles, and fashions from many Asian countries, as well as Mexico, Guatemala, Columbia, Ecuador and here in the USA, to name a few! Our high-reaching ceilings provide an abundance of natural light, allowing us to display beautifully handmade wall hangings, tapestries, masks, mirrors, and exotic handmade art pieces in an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.
We feature an amazing selection of exotic and festive imported clothing for women, men and a tad selection for children. Our 90+ feet of jewelry cases are chock full of stunning gems and silver jewelry like nowhere else in Idaho. Do check out our selection of incense as well! We also sell books, candles, CD’s, hand-painted mirrors, singing bowls, prayer flags & malas, wall hangings, hats, scarves, belly dance wear, pillow covers, tapestries, bags, shoes, batik sarongs … and so much more! We strive to offer Boise a “Window to the World” by providing a wide selection of unique & affordably priced products from around the globe, in a festive atmosphere, and topped off with personalized friendly customer service!
Most of our cool stuff… is manufactured by foreign, family-minded businesses. We feel good that we are supporting creative people in villages & cities in foreign lands, feeding the global economy. We feel that making socially conscious choices is as pure and rewarding in far-away third world countries as it is in our own community. We have experienced both, and as a company, we are committed to continually sharing in the joy that comes from giving back. We embrace fair trade practices and make great efforts to do business with artists and suppliers who do the same … because it is the right thing to do.
